As the campus begins a phased reopening according to the requirements set by Public Health, this year’s admitted students are now able to get a first look at Whittier’s campus.

While Whittier College’s current student body looks towards returning to campus in the Fall, this year’s admitted students are currently facing the decision on what college they will be attending. Now, as the campus begins its phased reopening in accordance with Public Health mandates, this year’s admitted students are now able to have their first in-person look at Whittier’s campus.

As the May 1 college decision deadline quickly approaches, admitted students are faced with the important decision of committing to their undergraduate alma mater. Though, this year’s high school seniors, transfer students, and first-time college attendees have all faced the struggle of not having the opportunity to tour the college campuses they hope to commit to.

In this past year, Whittier College’s Office of Admission has offered a handful of online resources to help capture the College’s community. These resources include virtual touring sessions, appointments with admissions counselors, various hosted events, and the opportunity to sit in on a mock class led by a professor.

Newly-admitted students also receive weekly Tuesday emails with the most up-to-date information about the campus’ reopening. One of the most recent updates included the opportunity to book an appointment to tour the campus in person for the first time since the campus’ closure last year.

Admitted students looking to visit the campus must book an appointment through the Campus Tour 2021 portal. Tours must be limited to four people — the admitted student accompanied by three individuals that reside in the same household. Visiting guests must also fill out the Health Screening Form before arriving on campus.

Out-of-state admitted students are also allowed to book appointments, though the College requires their party to complete a 10-day quarantine in accordance with L.A. County travel guidelines.

Tours and visits for prospective students that have not yet applied or have not been accepted are still on hold. Though, applicants can view the virtual tour and other resources on the Whittier College Admissions website.

On-campus tours for admitted students are currently fully booked through May 1, though there are still available appointments throughout May.
